Ernest Hemingway, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, is considered to be one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. He is best known for his novels "A Farewell to Arms" and "The Old Man and the Sea."
Before Ernest Hemingway published his collection of short stories titled "In Our Time," he served in the military during World War I and worked as a journalist. It was his books such as "The Old Man and the Sea," which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1953, "The Sun Also Rises," "A Farewell to Arms," and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" that brought him widespread acclaim. In 1954, Ernest Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. In Ketchum, Idaho, on July 2, 1961, he took his own life by hanging himself.
